About: Mixed Dried Bell Peppers

Bright, crunchy, and naturally sweet, our Dried Bell Peppers are a vitamin-rich snack your parrot will actually look forward to eating. Red and orange vegetables, including bell peppers, are recommended by avian veterinarians—especially for species prone to vitamin A deficiency, such as Eclectus parrots.

Bell peppers are naturally high in carotenoids (provitamin A compounds). Veterinary nutrition sources emphasize that vitamin A is crucial for healthy skin and feather quality, normal respiratory and digestive tract lining, vision, and immune function in psittacines, and that deficiency is one of the most common nutritional problems seen in pet parrots.

Our low-temperature drying process helps preserve these beneficial carotenoids while giving the peppers a fun, crunchy texture perfect for foraging toys, training pouches, or daily chop.

Ingredients

  • 100% dried bell pepper (no salt, oils, sugars, or preservatives)

Feeding Instructions

  • How to serve:
    • Offer as a topper on your bird’s fresh chop or pellets.
    • Use individual pieces as a low-fat training treat.
    • Hide pieces inside foraging toys to encourage natural seeking and shredding behavior.
  • Portion guidance (as a treat, not a main diet):
    • Small parrots (budgies, parrotlets, lovebirds): 1–3 small pieces per day.
    • Medium parrots (cockatiels, conures, Quakers, mini macaws): 3–6 pieces per day.
    • Large parrots (Amazons, African greys, large macaws, cockatoos): up to 1–2 teaspoons per day.
  • Important:
    • Always provide a balanced pelleted diet as the main food, with vegetables and only limited seeds/nuts, as recommended by avian veterinary nutrition guidelines.
    • Remove uneaten fresh or moistened food after a few hours.
    • Fresh, clean water must be available at all times.
    • Consult your avian veterinarian when making major diet changes.
