This bird is available for adoption rather than standard placement because it is either an adult bird that was surrendered to us or a bird with a physical disability requiring a more specialized home.

Adoption Approval Required:
We are very selective with our adoption placements and maintain a strict approval process to ensure each bird is matched with the best possible home. Potential adopters should expect to provide proof of appropriate caging, along with photos and videos of the home environment where the bird will be living. Applicants will also be asked to complete a specific set of questions so we can better understand their experience level, household, and overall preparedness. Please note that we reserve full authority to approve or deny any adoption application based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, cage setup, household environment, and existing birds or flock dynamics. All adoption placements must be picked up at Parrot Stars.

Native Range: Western Coast, South America

The Pacific Parrotlet is an extra-small parrot species within the family Psittacidae and is one of several species commonly referred to as parrotlets. It is characterized by predominantly green plumage, with males typically displaying cobalt-blue markings on the rump, wings, and behind the eyes, while females lack these blue patches. This species is sexually dimorphic. In the wild, Pacific Parrotlets inhabit dry forests, scrublands, and semi-arid regions of western Ecuador and northwestern Peru. They nest in tree cavities and are often observed in small flocks.
